24 Hours Later, It’s All Over

Only the best navigators and fastest teams were able to even attempt clearing the 24 Hour course at the Maine Summer Adventure Race. Out of 80 checkpoints available however, the winner Flying Tomato (solo male, Joseph Huard) was able to reach all but one, claiming overall victory with 79 CPs as he flew across the finish with 3 minutes and 8 seconds left on the clock.

Adventure Racing on the National and World stage however is a mixed gender team sport, and the winner of the coed premier division takes special honors including a qualification entry to this year’s USARA National Championship Race at Snowshoe Mountain. This year the 24 hour race was won by the “home” team of Strong Machine Adventure Racing. Taking punches from 76 CPs on the course, the team of Amanda Martin, Tom Martin, Evan Moreshead and Glen Lewis finished in 23:41:26, second place overall and first in the coed premier division.
