Well it was almost an amazing shortcut… As a few teams found out, the shorter route is not always the better route. Mired in sand and a maze of trails, this team kept pushing through and came out of the sand a bit worse for wear. Along with Team Onyx and T-Minus, We Don’t Quit spent more time than they wanted on the first mountain bike, and will now be continuing on the short course.

Many teams would just give up at this point. It was a punishing day, and it can be incredibly demoralizing to have to backtrack and lose time. But with world-class racer and motivator, Clifton Lyles (currently on injured reserve and here as a supporter), these teams were able to gather themselves, rally, and push on for the rest of the race. We’re only halfway there, and there’s lots of course left. Team Onyx, along with We Don’t Quit are still in this fight.
