On to Stage 4, and then Rock Creek

The front of the race is heating up now. After Transition area 3, teams are on to the deceptively short trekking section that is Stage 4. Only around 3 miles as the crow files, this stage looks much easier on a map than it is in real life. Racers can expect to find large boulders, loose, sandy scree fields, and generally un-runnable terrain. What looks like a little jog will turn out to be much more challenging for many teams.

They can’t spend too much time there though if they want to make the 9:00pm cutoff at Transition area 4 though!
