A Paddle Stage with a Storm

We had been keeping a close eye on the weather forecast for race day. Although it looked mostly clear we knew there was a small chance of scattered thunderstorms and while we dodged most of the serious weather, the course did have a brush with some energetic storms from the west. Small, fast-moving isolated storms moved in while some teams were out on the paddle and plans had to change for some races. The front end of the field was quick enough to out-paddle most of the stormy weather and the top three places on the podium are within minutes of each other on stage 3, even after 8 hours of racing.
